It's the most wonderful time of the year...soup season! Alright, maybe the cold winds aren't blowing in all parts of country quite yet, but regardless of the temperature, we can all use the calming, centering qualities of a healthy, hearty soup right about now. Restaurants love when people order it because it is inexpensive to make and it goes far. So, why not master a few basic soups at home? We can show you how (see screenshot below with page numbers)! That snazzy image above is Butternut Squash Soup garnished with fresh spinach (Warhol style! But that's a camera trick). Make it yourself! Or use zucchini, broccoli, carrots or cauliflower instead. When it comes to garnishes, get creative: roasted nuts, interesting spices, toasted chunks of baguette, sliced apples or pears with balsamic vinegar. What do you feel like and what do you have?
